ENGAGING FINAL EVENT FOR THORNDYKE & TEAM

David Thorndyke and the #67 Thorsons EVT Chevrolet team were back in action for round number ten of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series this past Sunday as part of the NASCAR Truck Series weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP).  The strong performance of the team and driver on track was just one of the weekend highlights.

Battling brake issues in the first practice session Thorndyke did not get much accomplished with the #67 Thorsons EVT Chevrolet.  Following some adjustments the car was better during final practice and Thorndyke qualified 21st for the 51-lap race.  “It was definitely better as the day went along but still not quite where we needed to be,” said Thorndyke.

As race day arrived the team was busy preparing the #67 Thorsons EVT Chevrolet for the race but Car Chief Adam Thorndyke was busy with preparations of his own as he planned to propose to his long time girlfriend Kattie Smilovsky, who is Crew Chief of the team, during the race in unique fashion.

The race began normally and when the driver came along pit road for the scheduled stop for fuel, Adam insisted Kattie move to see the front of the car insisting there was an issue.  A stunned Kattie saw a message Adam had placed on the hood of the car asking Kattie to marry him.  He then presented her with a ring and she said yes.

With many hugs, cheers and emotions flowing the team then had to refocus on completing the race.  David Thorndyke in his usual methodical way was moving the #67 Thorsons EVT Chevrolet forward.  “We still had some brake issues and I was having to pump the brakes up before corners” said Thorndyke.

Regardless of the challenges Thorndyke would run as high as 12th in the field and cross the finish line with a 14th place result.  “I’m really happy with this result,” said the driver afterwards.  “The car performed really well and even with me having to manage the brakes it’s a great result for the team.  And what a great celebration we’re going to have now with Adam and Kattie too” he added.

This was the final event David Thorndyke and the #67 Thorsons EVT Chevrolet team will compete in this season.  They thank all the race fans for their support and encourage you to enjoy the rest of the 2016 season.
